EMI/EMC Engineer

SUMMARY

EMI/EMC Engineer for International Regulatory Compliance Testing and Certification
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Reviews and evaluates technical EMI/EMC requirements from customer and formulates compliance test plan to meet international regulatory requirements, including but not limited to FCC (USA), CE (Europe Union), CCC (China), VCCI (Japan), BSMI (Taiwan), etc.
  • Understand, interpret and tailor international EMI/EMC specifications and test methods, including but not limited to EN 55022, EN 55024, EN 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4, EN 61000-4-5, and EN 61000-4-6.
  • Perform EMI/EMC Compliance Testing (emission and susceptibility) according to EMC test plan and SIEMIC compliance Testing Procedures.
  • Perform in-house calibration of EMC Chamber, Open Area Test Site, Test Equipment, and Antenna and ESD Generator, etc. according to SIEMIC Calibration Procedures.
  • Perform various EMI analyses when customer product fails EMI standards and provide trouble-shooting.
  • Familiarity with component EMI design concepts, PCB layout techniques and grounding/shielding implementation practices.
  • Interfaces with customers to resolve EMI issues and provide EMC consultancy.
  • Familiar with EMI/EMC Test instruments, such as Spectrum Analyzer, EMI Receiver, Signal Sweeper, Network Analyzer, Antenna, LISN, Power Amplifier, etc.
  • Prepares Compliance Test reports and/or Technical Construction Files in both English and Chinese.
  • Generates and implements documentation, including test plans and test procedures.
  • Familiar with ISO 17025 (Laboratory Quality Assurance)
  • Other duties may be assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related area from four-year college or university; Experience or education in system EMI design and test.


LANGUAGE SKILLS (Both in English and Chinese)

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
