On January 6, 2006, China AQSIQ and CNCA jointly announced the implementation of WLAN Certification per CNCA-11C-048: 2003 implementation rules. For WLAN Certification, the WAPI (WLAN Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure) compliance as per Chinese Standard (GB 15629-11). Manufacturers have option to either fully comply with GB 15629-11 or a written commitment to implement Chinese WAPI protocol in a feasible time schedule. Ø       China MII Exemption of Network Access License for GSM with WLAN function

By implementing WLAN Certification administrated by CNCA, with effective from January 6, 2006, MII (Ministry of Information Industry) Network Access License is no longer required for GSM Terminals with WLAN functions. However GSM only is still required to have NAL before deploying in China, GSM terminals with Bluetooth function is also required for MII Network Access License.
